Center Learning Workshop Early Childhood Islamic Education Study Program
Wednesday, December 21, 2016 Early Childhood Education Student Association of STAI Daruttaqwa Gresik held an Education workshop with the theme “IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF SENTRA LEARNING MODELS. The event was held in the second floor of the STAI Daruttaqwa Gresik Hall. As for the speakers in this activity were the mother Elzim Khosyiyiati, S.Psi, M.Psi. he is one of the lecturers in the Daruttaqwa Gresik Islamic School of Early Childhood Education (PIAUD) Study Program. All PIAUD study program students attend a character education seminar with this central method. In the event, the speaker spoke about the development of learning with a central method for early childhood.
The Sentra Method is a revolutionary way of teaching and learning for early childhood education. This is a comprehensive answer to the needs of the nation which is now busy looking for a formula for a “character education” that can change the moral-mentality of this nation’s reason for being better. It is also the answer to the needs of an “international standard” plus Islamic education. The center method is very appropriate for early childhood and conscious schools. The Sentra Method is a new paradigm in the field of education and teaching. Given the wide range of objectives and scope, here only a few principles will be put forward that are different from conventional methods. We can see that learning not only asks students to listen, but also to do it. Kindergarten children, usually only able to survive listening for about 7 minutes. And the center learning model is a learning model that focuses on playing centers during learning. The play center is an activity area designed inside or outside the classroom, containing a variety of playing activities with materials needed and arranged based on the abilities of children and in accordance with the themes developed and designed in advance. In learning with the Sentra Method, the curriculum is not given classically, but individually, according to the stage of development of each child. Therefore, the number of students in one class is limited, a maximum of 12 children. During the learning process, teachers are prohibited from doing “3M”: they must not prohibit, order, be angry / punish. The center learning model is a learning model that has characteristics not shared by other learning. The characteristics can be seen from several aspects of elzim mother’s speech to the workshop participants. The event does not only contain seminars or dialogues between students and resource persons, but the speakers and some lecturers, one of which is the head of the PIAUD study program, Ms. Riyadlotus Solichah, S.Ag, M.Sc, invites participants to practice the simulation and practice of this learning model. He hoped that “with this event all participants of the PIAUD STAI Daruttaqwa study program students should be able to better understand and maximize the teaching process later,” said Ibu Riyadlotus Solichah.
